Material Calculator

The Calculator helps you to estimate the tonnage of material required for your job.

Note! These calculators require a JavaScript-enabled browser to run!

To use the Material Calculator:

• enter the width, length, and thickness of your job,
• select the thickness in feet or inches
• click on either Rock w/ Fines, Clean Rock, or a Custom density selection
• the Rock w/ Fines and Clean Rock selections will fill in the density of the rock for you; the Custom selection allows you to enter a rock density in the Density field. Use the values for Sand or Dirt below, or enter you own value
• click on the Calculate button

The calculator will estimate the number of tons of aggregate that will be required.

Please note that densities will vary somewhat between different loads, but the default values assigned for Clean Rock and Rock with Fines are good standard "rules of thumb" for estimating.
